These terms are the agreement between you and Couch. They are short on purpose. The part that matters most is section 4: Couch is a small, private place for friends, and there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
By creating an account or using Couch, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You must be 13 or older. Couch is currently available to users in the United States only. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it.
You sign in with your phone number, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Couch is invite-only: you reach other people because one of you invited the other, and groups are private to their members.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Couch. By using the app you agree not to post, send, or share anything that is:
You also agree not to use Couch to contact somebody who has made clear they do not want to hear from you, and not to create a new account to get around a block or a suspension.
Every message, reaction comment and reply in the app can be reported. Press and hold it and choose Report. You will be asked why, and you can add anything else we should know.
We review every report within 24 hours and act on it — see section 7. Reports go only to us. The person you reported is not told that you reported them, and is not shown your name in connection with it.
You can also email hello@hitthecouch.com at any time, including about something you cannot reach in the app.
You can block anyone from their profile. Blocking ends the connection between you: you stop being friends, neither of you can invite the other again, and any space that existed only for the two of you is removed.
In a group you both belong to, what happens depends on whose group it is. In a group you created, they are removed. In a group they created, you leave. In a group somebody else created, you choose — leave it, or stay with their messages hidden. The app tells you which of these applies before you confirm.
The person you block is not told. Blocking is not announced anywhere in the app, and they are not shown a reason.
When a report is upheld we will do whatever is needed, which may include any of the following:
We may act without prior notice where the content is severe. We may also remove content or accounts where we are required to by law.
What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the app: to store your content and show it to the people you chose to share it with. We do not sell it, use it to train models, or show it to anyone outside the groups and friendships you are part of.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your content. Two things are kept, and our Privacy Policy explains why: reports involving you, and messages you sent to a group that other people are still reading.
Show, season and episode information in Couch comes from TMDB. This product uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.
Couch is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will always be available, or free of faults. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app.
We may change or discontinue features, and we may update these terms. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to tell you in the app. Continuing to use Couch after a change means you accept the updated terms.
This agreement is between you and Couch, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; beyond that Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you or a third party may have relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law rules.
Anything at all, including reports you cannot file in the app: hello@hitthecouch.com. We aim to respond within one business day, and we review reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
